Stakeholder management
A user experience designer is the voice of the user when design decisions are being made. User research means to understand the user's motivations, needs and goals in order to create something that will both delight the user and deliver on business goals.
So how does a user experience designer know what the user wants and needs? No expert, internal or external, is able to answer this question with 100% certainty without asking the user or observing their behaviour.
I have used the techniques listed above to understand what is going on in the user's world and to match up those needs with business objectives.

Presentations
The research phase produces a lot of data. In order to identify opportunities I analyse the outcomes, find patterns and visualise ideas and concepts. Recommendations need to be useful, desirable and actionable to add value.
Once information is captured and visualised, complex problems become easier to understand and solutions present themselves. The resulting artifacts are communication tools and build the bridge to the next phase.
Creation
Information architecture (sitemaps, navigational structures, taxonomy)
Wireframes and rapid prototyping (Axure, Sketch, Balsamiq, CSS/HTML)
Responsive design, mobile first approach
Lab testing, online testing (Treejack, Chalkmark, GoToMeeting) and guerilla testing
Training and support
To create solutions means to sketch, wireframe and prototype based on the findings and recommendations developed in the analysis phase. These ideas are incrementally tested with users and stakeholders, iterated and tested again until the user can navigate with ease. Finally the business is confident that the proposed solution is effective, efficient and user-friendly.
In this stage of a project, I work as a translator who speaks the different languages of developers, engineers, business stakeholders and end users to ensure that everyone understands each other. It is really important to be able to work productively within a team environment, to make certain that we all understand why we are doing what we do. I work hard to build trust and forge lasting relationships with implementation and engineering teams.
